Yesterday evening I told a friend about putting my son's refugee friend and my friend's training-to-be-a- teacher daughter together for language practice. A moment later she messaged to offer me a basic textbook to pass on to the lad. People are being so kind.

Snowball
The residencia where my son lives is also home to refugees. We're in Portugal so they need to learn Portuguese. One of the lads asked my son if he had some old children's books he could offer, for self study. We don't, as my kids are too old now, but I put out feelers to a couple of friends with younger kids. As well as having promises of donations of books for the lad in question, and also toys and clothes for another family of new arrivals, I also had the most amazing offer from my friend's daughter. She is training to be a teacher and offered my son's friend online Portuguese classes. They'll meet for the first time tomorrow morning.
What started as a request for a couple of books snowballed into so much more really quickly.

Classics
Kindness is still kindness, although we tend to expect it inside families.
This afternoon a classic car rally went through my older son's workplace. He rang my younger, car obsessed one, and WhatsApped the lot. Such a thoughtful thing to do.
